FAQs

What is Interior Design?

Interior design is the process of solving problems. Good design solutions make spaces comfortable and environments peaceful. There is a difference between interior design and decorating. Decorating is the application of things to other things, often because the things being applied are considered interesting, cute, of current style, or of favored style. In decorating, little consideration is given to the whole picture but is rather focused on the elements in question.

Good Interior Design is the use of elements that are of the right scale, color, texture, and feel in the right place to solve a specific problem. The solution produces rhythm, relationships, and balance which result in peaceful environments.

Do You Need a Designer?

Many people are born with good taste. Some with good taste have the skills and experience to use that taste to solve design problems. Most do not, even those with good taste. Having good taste simply means you can tell a quality product when you see it. It does not necessarily mean you have the ability to combine products with regard to scale, color, texture, and feel and produce rhythm and relationships that result in peaceful environments.

If you’ve tried to do your own interior designing and for whatever reason you are not happy with the results, then you are most likely in need of the services of a qualified interior designer. If you are somewhat pleased with what you have but it’s not quite where you want it to be and you don’t know what to do, then you could use the help of qualified interior designer.

If you are watching the design shows on cable television and you know what looks good but you just can’t seem to make it happen in your house, you need the help of a qualified interior designer. If you are still not sure, then most likely you do need a designer.
